Tire width
Okay guys, I will probably never decide on which tires to go with for my '91 truck. It seems like I change my mind every day. Anyway, I have come down to these three finalists: Swamper SSR, Swamper Trxus MT, and the PJ Dirt grips. Every thing else is off the board because I would like to try out something a little different than what everybody else has. Anyway, the SSRs are available in a 14.5" width in both 33s and 35s, do you all think this width would be overdoing it? I was thinking the extra couple of inches might help in off-camber situations, but since I don't have a whole lot of experience I don't know how much difference it would make.
BTW, I am borrowing a set of Gibbie's 35/12.50s for now, and I have to say I am really glad I went with 5.29 gears instead of 4.88s.

Regarding magazines and their "Tests"...
Magazines make their money from advertisers (tire companies). The tires (and all other tested products) in these tests are kept by the testers. The company that advertises the most and/or gives the most free stuff to the writers/ staff of the magazine will get favorible coverage in the "test" articles. They are just testing how gullible the readers are, not how good the tires are.
The test results can be manipulated by any number of variables like air pressure, width, wheel used, test vehicle, weight, throttle used, track conditions and tons of other variables that aren't mentioned in the article (guess why they aren't mentioned). God bless the writers, they try their best to make their tests seem scientific by implying that the same conditions are used for each product. Its just not the case.
On that note, i've heard good things about the new H2 Hummer from GM. E-mail me to learn where to send one for me to test. I'll report my results all over the internet.
Hey, its worth a shot!

We all want to know how you fit 35s. Please explain that.
Thanks, Matt

I haven't updated my profile yet. I have since put on a 4" suspension lift and 3" body lift in order ot fit the 35s. In all honesty I may go 33 or 34 since I don't really know how much I gain with the extra 1" of the 35s, and I have already gotten them to very slightly rub once. The Trxus MTs are available in a 34-12.50. My fenders are still attached. BTW, has anybody 'lifted' and ARB bumper? I would like to bring it back up in line with the body now, and am wondering how feasible it is. Pics would be great.
Finally, check www.off-road.com/suzuki/reviews/interco.htm for a pretty good review of the SSRs. I would think it should be pretty unbiased, BUT...I don't know how ORC is funded.
