Tire size question

ok I am going with the BFG AT's but I had a question about the sizes, I have a 17x8 on, I was going with the 31x10.5R15. These should fit no problem right? also what is the difference between something like the 285/75R16 and the 265/75/R16?

Can't fit 15" or 16" tires on 17" rims for staters.....

285s are about an inch wider than 265s

If you want 31X10.5R15 then you will have to get either 15X7 or 15X8 rims. 285 versus 265 means not only a wider tire but a taller tire also. both by at least 1 inch. The 16 on the end of the tire size means you need a 16 inch rim. Hopes this helps.

Actually they are 16x8's... damn too early in the morning! haha.so something like the 31x10.5R15 means I need a 15 in rim right? is that the max rim size? or does it mean it has to be at least a 15?

That means you have to have a 15" rim...no other size will work. If you already have 16" rims, then go with something like a 265/75R16 BGF AT.

if your 4R came with 16" wheels, you cant downgrade to 15" wheels either, they wont clear your brake calipers.
