Question Tire recommendations...

I have a 96 4Runner V6 5-spd 4WD, with a revtek front lift, and OME rear (2.5-3.0 inch). I am currently running 285's on Tundra wheels. I have no scrubbing through full travel at this time. Well, my 285's are getting pretty worn, and I am thinking of going a little bigger, maybe 305/70s or 315/75s. My 285s are really close to my upper control arms at full flex on the front, so I know I will have to address that also, maybe by having my arms trimmed down by a machine shop. Well my dilemma is I don't know what size tire to go with. I would really love to fit 315's, and I don't mind trimming whatever to make them fit, but is it really worth it? I do off-road quite a bit, but my 285's have never let me down....but there's always that question....just a little more tire never hurt anyone...lol. What do you guys think?

I forgot to mention, I ordered a 1 inch RB Body lift today...

Talking

my guess is that with the 1" bl you'd be able to fit the 305s, but the 315s might be cutting it a little close.

If you are running stock upper a-arms, then a 12.5" wide tire will rub, regardless. You'll have to look into an aftermarket a-arm, something like the ones from Inland Trucks (I have these and I'm pretty happy with them). The diameter of the tire is much less of an issue than is the width. My 33s rub in a few places, but it's mostly because of the width, not the height. I believe you can go up to a 35" tire as long as you keep the width reasonable - nothing wider than 12.5".
