I have a '88 runner I just purchased from sister. I'm 3rd owner. The runner has 162,000 miles. My sister bought it at approx 80,000. She never took it in for any maintenance. Her husband did the oil changes every 3,000 to 5,000 miles wether it needed it or not. I took it in for its overdue 160,000+ mile maintenance. .... anyway, I had them replace the timing belt & waterpump for $566.34. They also replaced the idler & tensioner & cam/crank seals, thermostat and all the belts for an additional $426.76. The mechanic says there are two more things that need to be done. New muffler & Valve cover gaskets (says might as well throw in a valve adjustment) for another $567.07. Maintenance can be costly
