Thule Bike/Hitch 4th gen.NoFit

Got a Thule hitch mounted bike rack today... Delivered from rack attack*... It will not fit, it bumps against the spare and you cannot insert the bolts to lock the rack.

I canceled my order because I was advised of this, but the rack was shipped anyway.

My warning here is, the Thule rack doesn't fit, if your getting a hitch mount, buy local and check it out before you pay.

Regards !

I have a BVG Swing Away Hitch Rack that fits perfectly. It has two hitch pin holes to accomdate for the 4th gen 4runner.

Here is a picture:

Nice ! I'm not a serious rider though, so I didn't want anything too expensive. $125 was fien for the Thule. I could always take to to a shop and have them grind off .5".

I have a Yakima ROC2 hitch bike rack that was too long to fit in the hitch. I just got a hacksaw out and cut about an inch off the end. Fits perfectly now!

I have a Yakima Terra Firma rack.
The thing fit fine, but the hole was located too close to the end of the rack tube so that it did not insert far enough to provide much of a stable overlap. I just drilled another hole closer to the bend in the square tube of the rack so it inserts about 4 " further now and is very stable and does not work the bolt loose.

Cut it and got it to fit... Another word of warning though, the stamped steel wrence that comes with the rack will not help you when installing the cross bolt on the hitch. There isn't enough room, you'll need to buy a socket if you don't already have one.

For $125, I'm pretty damn pleased.
