A thought on the Dedkplate mod!
I have noticed the number of complaints about the noise level induced by the deckplate mod. Having an 89' pu I dont have the same airbox as the one pictured, but I think that I may have and interesting idea!
The size of the hole is 4 1/4", but what is the O.D. of the passthrough plate? I think that if one was to block the origional intake port, remove the OEM filter element and install an inverted cone filter on the backside of the portal (!!!) that the sound volume may be cut to some extent!
The only problem I can come up with is that there will be no direct ram air intake! But having allready done this mod might have compormised ram air all together anyway! And finding a 4 1/4" I.D. cone may be dificult also! Oh, and K&N sells a sponge prefilter rap for regular open element intakes, these may serve as muffelers as well!
What ya' think?
