Thinking about a 00-02 4Runner Sport.. Questions...
Im looking to get a 2000-02 4Runner Sport once I sell my 94 4Runner and 03 VW Passat. I was curious if there were any differences or what the prices were running. What I am looking for is:
Must be:
4WD
Solid body color NO 2 TONE!!
under 80Kmiles
Preferably:
Black exterior
Leather
Sport model (maybe a limited)
Are there any differences or things I should look out for? I will not be offroading or lifting it. It will be a second vehicle/winter ride.
Thanks!!
Zack

The sport edition has the cool scoop hood that most people want. I think if you want leather, you should get the limited. The limited if you don't know has the cladding, leather interior and I think woodgrain. If you get an 02, you'll have the beefier flares whether you get the sport or limited versions.

the sport model which is popular for the hood scoop.
the limited's are the ones that have the door molding of a different color.
also something to consider....about the color....i had a black runner...im sure youve thought of this, but if you want a black one it will be harder to maintain a cleaner appearance...maybe the silver color would be easier to keep looking clean since dirt doesnt show as easily. just something to consider.
good luck!

You said you may look into a limited edition...just to let you know all the black 4runners made from 2000-2002 are two-tone (black and silver). The sports are all black (bumpers and all) and the sr5's are all black with chrome bumpers.

dont the 2000-2002 limiteds have the greyish/real light brown door molding?
i had a 2000 sr5 with chrome bumpers front and rear.
another factor....fender flares...some key differences there.

tarheelrunner says it best. I looked at a ton of these before going with the sport. IMO go with the sport or sr5, pass on the leather and get some Wet Okole seat covers.

i have an 02 sport, all black. with leather seats, but it was a dealer add-on sorta deal. looks just like factory tho.
since this is just a second ride, winter vehicle, you'll appreciate the traction control/vsc of the 01 and 02s.
if you're really set on an black limited, yo could paint the lower cladding to match. i've seen a couple like that, looks pretty good. i'm not a fan of the wood grain trim, but of course that's your call. the sports come with a brushed metallic trim.

The aftermarket Katzkin would be a great option for leather seats. They are better quality than factory anyway and you can order it in just about any color scheme you may want. I personally would get a Sport and put in the Katzkin leather seats with a two tone seat to match the interior.

i have katzkin in my 02 tacoma and its nice leather but i still would take factory or it, but if your buying an 2000 -2002 the leather would be worn and the katzkin would make it like new.

Im leaning towards a 01-02 Sport.I do not like the climate control on the limiteds and HATE the 2-tone.. The Katzkin leather would be a good option, If I find something I like with cloth.. Thanks Guys! P.S. I might have a dealer hookup at the auto auctions so hopefully I can find what I want at wholesale!!

'99 Sports had the smaller black plastic flares but in '00 all Sports shared the Limited's flares but only '99-'00 had the rear locker and all '99s and most '00s had the taller coils.

Same here. No problems at 89,00mls. I would rather have a 00 or older though because of the rear locker option. Black vehicles look great when they are clean. BUt... they show scratches way too easily.
