I'm sure they unbolted the one side first (its more quiet) then hit the other side with the noisey sawsall and ran. He got lucky, they left his front O2 sensor.

You wanna know why they are doing this? Yesterday at the shop, we had a guy come by and said he did the processing for precious metals out of cats. He doesnt buy them off the street, just shops (so he says) and said he would give us $200-$250 for 1 cat off a honda oddessy! Its insane how much these a-holes are making off these things

Or wire a trip wire and a flare to it. Too bad you couldn't rig it with a 4 way switch and timing device that way it'd burn down whatever place they sold it to.

They got me last night! And its not just west coast...San Antonio, TX... my question is whether i should try to reweld the old flanges on? or cut the flanges off the new unit and just straight line with welding, no bolts?

For the folks doubting this happens outside of California; it was on the radio here Friday on my way to work about how entire neighborhoods are getting cleaned out. I couldn't help but to think how lame it was to broadcast on the radio how they fetch such a high resale price... seems that will encourage further pillaging.

Damn I am in san antonio too. Time for me to go out there and adjust my shock sensor on my alarm. I had turned down the sensitivity because I used to live in an apartment and someone closing their door next to me would initiate the warning honk. My horns sound like a train. Now that i am in a house I think I am going to bring the sensitivity back up.

This really worries me. I hate druggies for this very reason. I think we ought to give them all the drugs they want for free and let them overdose and die. Harsh, I know...
I half expect, every day, that I am going to walk out and fire up my truck and hear...blat blat blat...
Pisses me off so much. Worse yet, stupid Cali makes it harder and harder to pass smog so newer cats are going to have even more of this precious metal in it making this problem even worse. I think an underbelly pan is the only solution. I should get one fabbed up...

The Today Show had a segment on it the morning after mine was stolen. Fortuitous... $120 for the part and a $100 for the weld. Although car insurance doesnt cover it (it wasnt an accident) it is probably covered by insurance. If this happens again, im gonna put in a straight pipe. I just dont have time to deal with this....or the patience

i'm considering purchasing some armor just to possibly prevent this from happening to me. looks like the budbuilt belly pan/skid plate might keep them from getting at the front of the cat. invest $450 now to prevent big dollar replacement down the road. what do you guys think?

Someone needs to do something about these idiots who are MAKING the market for the Meth heads.... Deal with the problem, not the symptom!

I've been told that aftermarket cats are only worth $10. They are not seeing the replacement cats being stolen, just OEM. Although I doubt a meth head will actually check to see if the cat is a replacement before he cuts it out...

Just do what I do now, get a replacement CAT and use it for getting your truck smogged, after that just put on a straight pipe. check it out on ebay under "test pipe". Worthless to the thieves.
