Angry Tacoma woes

Hello, I am new to this forum and I joined since I just bought a 99 Tacoma (2.7 engine) with a 108k miles, it had one owner and seems to have been maintained well. However, it has a slight misfire at idle. Today, I changed the plugs, cleaned the filter and mafs, replaced the pcv valve, replaced a few vacuum lines, cleaned the posts on the battery, changed the oil and filter and dropped a fuel injector cleaner in the tank. Still have the misfire. I am planning to replace the fuel filter. Only thing I can think of is a bad O2 sensor or plug wires.
Anyone has had this problem? I welcome any ideas.
Thanks

Welcome.. I also had a 99 Taco with the 2.7, had the same problem, and changed the wires. Took care of it. Good luck!

welcome.

i noticed what seemed to be a misfire recently from my tacoma (same engine). unfortunately it was accompanied by a coolant odor (and sometimes thick white smoke) from the tailpipe. a failed head gasket. this was disappointing to me, especially since i have been a religious freak with maintenance, and have never really abused the vehicle. FYI the truck has 115000 miles.

for piece of mind, smell your exhaust. i second the ngk wires advise.

Thanks to all for the info! I think the best bet is the wires at this point. The failed head gasket is something I will look into but I do not think that is the problem since that also would result in loss of coolant and there would also be coolant in the oil. Neither of those conditions are present at this time. One other thing I will check is cleaning the throttle body since a dirty TB will also cause idle issues.
Thanks again and I will let you know if the wires were the culprit. I dod look for NGK wires at pep boys and autozone today but they do not sell them.
