Our electrician sub has a 96 standard cab with the v-6 as one of his company trucks. It was originally his sons truck and decided to keep it as a run around truck after having it for sale for over a year, with no takers. I wouldn't even consider buying a truck without an extended cab minimum. I quess Toyota thought the same, and thats why they only lasted 2-3 years.
You should be able to find one, but you may have to travel to get it.
This is one of those things that Toyota should make to satisfy everyone. I going through something similar now. I'm looking a Tacoma Double Cabs now. Everything about them is nice except they don't come with a 5 spd. I remember a couple guys on TTORA doing the 5 spd swap back when I had my Tacoma. Wasn't there also someone who actually bought a 5spd D-cab new? Maybe the only one made. Does anyone have any links to a 5spd swap in a D-Cab? I've been off TTORA for a while and the seach absolutely sucked on Delphi.
