Taco "clunk" after breaking
I have an 04 Taco V6 auto that has the much talked about "clunk" after hard breaking. It's driving me CRAZY!!!! I've read that the way to fix it is to lube the spline shaft on the drive shaft so it doesn't bind under breaking. I'm assuming this is the part that comes out of the transmission and has a zerk fitting. If my assumptions are correct what type of grease am I supposed to use? The manual calls for 3 types of grease and for the life of me I can't figure out what grease goes where. Thanks in advance.

Thanks....I read that a few days ago but it doesn't tell which grease to use where. Do you use the moly grease on the spline shaft or the lithium grease? This is an annoying problem.

I use lithium grease for all the zerks. You can also use a synthetic grease as many of the members here. The important thing is that it gets lubed. I'm sure all the lube shops out there just use lithium.
