Project SportRunner
I used to be into 4wheeling and had a couple of 4x4 Tacos (charter TTORA TN Chapter President) but with this 4Runner it's more of how clean can I keep it.

heh,
It does pretty good.
Being that I ripped out the ABS (speed sensors), I've been without a speedometer for some time. But, I believe I have a very easy solution for those who want to SAS their rigs and also remove all of their ABS signals, as I have done.
I just put in the Speed Sensor today, and confirmed that it physically works, now I just need to hook up the wires.
As for the pictures, those were taken with the off-road tires, the 37" MTR meats. For the highway, commuting, and daily driving, I have the kid tires, 35" BFG/AT tires. Its really amazing what the 4Runner looks like when the tires are switched. I'll have to get some side by side shots for comparison.
Anyhow, thanks for the kind remarks.

I picked up a speedo sensor from a '98 Tacoma V6, Auto 4x4 with an electronic sensor on the speedo gear. In my manual it shows a worm gear that goes around the output shaft of the transfer case; in the tailhouseing. So, today I put this sensor in there, removed the electronic part and had my wife move the 4Runner to see if it would move. It did. So, now I know the worm gear is there to turn the speed sensor gear. Now, I just need to hook up the electronics.
If you have a Limited, there are actually two speed sensors; Sensor 1 is the ABS, sensor two is on the transmission. The second is used to control the Automatic transmission, in the event the 1st speed sensor, the ABS, fails. I though about hooking into these transmission sensor, but never really got around to it. Maybe I'll test it out anyway, just to see if it works.
does that help you?

It depends on your model.

I just did some research on the '98 Taco "3 wire" speed sensor, and it is looking pretty good. Since my Auto tranny has a second speed sensor, the tranny still works correctly.

Hmmm this is why I retained my stock spindles in order to keep abs I had the outer hub ring installed backwards so it wouldn't interfere with the abs. So ABS work well and still have not tested my front locker nor the full capacity of my rear.
