Supercharger Questions

I just got a killer deal on a brand new 2nd gen s/c for my 4Runner. The seller only had the supercharger unit itself with the pulley. My understanding is that I will need the hardware, belt and tensioner. Is there anything else I need? Also, I know there are two different types of tensioners, which part # do I want to get?

I have done alot of research on the pinging and what not caused by the supercharger. I would love to install the 7th injector, but don't have the money at the time. My buddy has a s/c on his Tacoma and his rarely pings, so I figured I would just install mine and see how it ran. But, I have seen some people putting a 170 degree thermostat and 2 step colder plugs in to help reduce pinging. Should I go ahead and install the plugs and thermostat while I'm doing the s/c since they are relatively cheap and easy to do, or just slap the s/c on and see how it runs?

download the TRD manual. it will have a parts list including exact hardware dimensions (at least one of which was hard to find; 5 years ago). I believe you can only get the dynamic tensioner nowdays - so no option there anymore.

I downloaded the TRD catalog off of the TRD website, but the only info I could find was the part # for the TRD thermostat. Is there another catalog?

not the catalog. you need the install manual. I have an old one. PM me your email address and I will email it to you (its a PDF). There may be a newer version, but i'll leave that for you to find. (i think this manual is geared for the newer SC's and later model trucks)

Had a few hiccups with the home computer. If the below link doesn't work for you I can get you the soft copy in a few days.

Thanks to CT for archiving this:

Thanks a million, instructions look very helpful!

Any other opinions on whether I should install the 170 degree thermostat and 2 step colder plugs or not?

Plugs and the thermostat are cheap and easy, so there is little downside. But, i'd say its not likely they do much for you to resolve pinging (if you have it).
