Supercharger + Fuel upgrades gas milage.
Simple thread.
Those of you with a S/C with Fuel upgrades, whats your average gas milage???
Those of you with a s/c and no fuel upgrades can participate too, to compare.
Anyways I feel like something is terrible wrong with my setup/fuel maps & timing. I was told I would see and improvement in my milage after installing the fuel upgrade kit. In no way have I seen any bit of improvement.
With the fuel kit im averaging about 13.5 mpg.... This does not seem right at all. And I know what some of you are going to say. I have a heavy foot. Wrong. I have ran about 4 tanks of gas now staying in the pressure side. With the occation of getting around someone on the freeway. Not like a speed demon or anything. And not going about 70 mph on the freeway.
Now when I had just the s/c w/o any fuel mods i was getting 17+ mpg. even with towing a trailer and quad.
Id like to see some results so I can compare.

did the charger alone and my mileage didnt change, I was getting about 21 mpg.
put the trd 7th in and the mileage has been very consistant at about 23, highest i've seen is 25-ish, but that was all highway in the mountains, and alot of coasting.
I have no idea how im getting that good, because it smells very rich to me when I get on it. too bad its gonna cost me another grand to get it adjustable with all the urd goodies.
I do notice that my mileage drops to about 20 right after I reset the ecu, but a couple of tanks of gas and its back to where it was.

S/C with urd 7th
19-20 miles per gallon with a mix of highway and city driving, w/ the occasional lead foot
I just loaded a new map to eliminate some ping and will see if my MPG changes..
Installing the URD 2.2 pulley this week and will monitor MPG here as well

Wow, only 2 replies I would have thought there was more people with s/c's and fuel kits, heck even people with just s/c's.
Thanks for your replies guys. seems as if i should put the stock injectors in and just get the 7th then...

i'm supercharged with out any mods and get on average 16 mpg. the colder thermostat and spark plugs made for the most noticeable decrease in fuel economy. i can live with 16 mpg and very little ping( it pings some on the hottest summer days), but i plan to add the URD 7th injector kit in the future.

What he said. I get about 14-15 combined. That is w/ the Walbro pump, Denso IK22's and premium fuel.
On a side note, what tire pressure do you run? I notice a tremendous difference(in ride) between 30 and 35 psi. I can only imagine that it affects fuel economy as well.

When I first bought the 4Runner, it was supercharged w/o fuel mods. I got an overall average of about 19mpg going 75-85 all the way from NC to NM. It varied as high as 22mpg, and as low as 17mpg.
Now with fuel mods and a semi-stable tune I get 19 on the highway and 16 or 17 in the city. I have gotten as high as 23mpg in CO cruising at 60, and as low as 16-17mpg in lower altitudes like southern AZ. I'm just fine with that, it's better than my '92 4Runner with the 3.Slow gets
When I was shooting around in Phoenix about a month or so ago, I was getting about 13-14 in city and 17 hwy, but I was giving it a little (or maybe a lot) of go-pedal here and there... It's cool to feel the difference 5000 feet closer to sea level gives you in terms of air.
Tires can make a big difference, and the amount of lift you've got. I've got a 3" lift + 1" body with 285x75r16 Revo's that I run at 50psi for the "best" mileage I can muster. I imagine if I were stock height or even an inch lower with 265's I would get somewhat better hwy mileage, perhaps as high as 23-24 mpg. Oh yeah, I have an Auto with 4.30's in the axles fwiw too.

StevO-
What are your AFR's when cruising around? If they're around 14.7 in vac, I would think going back to stock injectors and a 7th won't do a thing... Can you do a free air calibration on your wideband sensor to make sure it's reading correctly?

16-17 here in town. it'll get to 18-19 at freeway speed. If i'm cruising a highway at 50-65 it'll pop up to 22. heavy tires had more of an effect on me than the Sc or fuel mods. I used to get 18-20 in town.

Yeah it is 14.7 while cruising around. Ill have to pull out the sensor and check it, ill get to it this weekend, as i keep saying each week, im going to try to install the 2.2 this weekend. Ill check it then.

2000 4Runner - supercharged with full URD kit. Mileage is consistently around 15-16 mpg (based on us gallons) - but I could probably sneek at least 2-3 more mpg by getting rid of the roof rack and the extra gear I keep in the cargo area (not to mention the 285's).

Stevo3,
I probably get about the same MPG as you.
I do mostly city driving going 5 miles to work daily on city streets and I get about 13 -14 mpg. On a long freeway trip the most I can get is 19.? mpg going 70 - 80 mph. I can't get 20 or more.
I also had the URD AIC installed and that did not help with the MPG either.
I have the new AIC with timing controller but have not installed it yet.

With lift, Tires and NO FUEL mods i get:
17-18 50% city 50% highway
20-22 freeway (at 65mph)
16ish straight city (getting on it at stop lights. )
it does burn pretty rich when i get on it (smell it if my rear window is down)
No plans for fuel up grade just to keeping my injectors clean with techron and not driving like an ass all the time.
current miles are also 115k.
