So im sticking with the 3.4 supercharged, I just had a few questions. #1 what can I expect to pay for a new or rebuilt motor? #2 what can I expect to pay for a TRD SC? #3 what type of shop should I be looking for to do the build ? Im certain I can do the swap but might have them do that as well. Should I be looking for a speed shop or maybe a shop that builds race engines?

So anyway

AS far as the price of the Engine and Supercharger, I sold a Supercharged 3.4L just recently on eBay for $3400. That is what you are looking at. Or get a engine for $1500, and buy the supercharger for a similar price and do it all yourself. Save some money. Your not likely to find another Supercharged 3.4L complete for awhile.

Yeah not really on topic because I'm not looking for a SC'd engine. Read my last post or any post for that matter and you'll see I want to marry a SC to a 3.4. I have a donor engine as the last post states and I was asking about associated cost.

My 3rd gen can run over your second gen, and I got loads of horse power. and also Get the whole truck from the insurance company take the motor and all wire harnesses, and the ecu, if it only has 100K don't waste money on rebuild. just boost it. You will be surprised how much of a gain you will feel with just the 3.4 and no supercharger. buy the URD fuel kit and the 2.2 pulley you will be happy for a couple grand. and as for the other parts on the truck part it out and make your money back.

I'm not sure where the hell this went wrong (maybe on my end) But I have an 02 4runner with of course a 3.4. I'm at 160k now and will swap it at 250k which will be in a year to 2 years. The truck had PIP insurance and we is paid for so looks like I'll be buying it from my brother (the engine). Ok so no rebuild needed at 100k, should be a straight swap and I don't see the need for the ecu. They are both 02's but I know the ecu is different on the taco's though I don't want a taco ecu. I want to keep the engine as reliable as possible with the sc which may turn out to be impossible. I have asked this before and I drive a ton so reliable for me is 50k a year with no issues. I was hoping to get the engine cheap to offset the cost of the whole setup.

By all accounts, if the compression numbers come back good on whatever motor you supercharge at any given miles, it should be good to put FI on. I know of MANY 5.0 Mustangs with a 200 shot of NOS lasting 200K without any problems.

I would personally think about using your motor first, boost it, get a good tune and drive away. There is no reason why a boosted motor can't last 300K IF it has a great tune on it.

The key to reliability is in the Tune.

All I want to do is buy or aquire a 3.4 just like the one in the truck. I then want to SC the said purchased unit and swap it in at the earlier stated mileage. It couldn't be any simpler pull old put in new. By doing this I can build the other one outside the engine bay, and reduce down time of the swap by having it ready already.

Fair enough. Quit talking about it and do it! Then post pics!
