Strut top hat and isolator

Not sure what happened to my thread, so I'll ask this way. I am about to install my 3" lift and need to drive my truck daily, so I wanted to get everything to a friend to compress and just swap out the struts and springs.

I was told all I need to get is the strut tophat and isolator. Dealer sells them for $72 a piece. I found them online at a few other places for lots less, but was told to only get them from a dealer...whats wrong with aftermarket? To weak of a material?

Thanks
Bob

Getting the old stuff out is the hard part. I ended up hacking 4 of the 6 strut mounts up top. Yours being a 97 has to be worse than mine rust wise.

And what do you have for your lift?

Why don't you have Toytec pre-assemble the struts for $100? That includes both stock top plates anyways and then you don't have to mess with compressing the springs Or, ask a few people that have put lifts on and may still have their old top plates to sell or give to you.
