Here are some pics my buddy emailed me of his cruiser. This is after the first coat (he had two done) and before he put some of the trim pieces back on. As you can see in one of the pics, he also had a piece of diamond plate cut to fit his tailgate and covered with liner as well.
It looks way better now that it's finished, but these were the only pics he sent me so... Holla back if you have any questions.

Thanks for the pics...see if you can get some of the finished product.
Alright...now time for my pics and some questions.
I now have all of the carpeting removed and I'm ready to start on the Peel & Seel on the bottom, the headliner will be another day...probably tomorrow.
So...with that said, here's a quick pic of where I am at. I will ask questions after I post this, I was going to post more than just this one but the stupid image I wanted to post is .1mb off so I can't do it and I don't have anyway to host them. Oh well...its more important to me to get my questions answered.

OK, time for the questions guys.
First off, when I pulled the carpeting up there was this thick, squishy black padding of some sort that kind of ripped up with the carpet. Some of it was stuck to the carpeting, causing big holes to be ripped in it and then some of was still stuck to the floorboard. I am assuming this is the stock sound dampening. I have now torn up just about all of it, except for the parts where it is really stuck. Am I right in assuming that this is the stock sound deadening stuff? Should I replace this with something else once I get the Peel & Seel put down? What should I do about this?
Second thing is...this carpet looks like its gonna be a PITA to put back down, is it as really hard as it seems?
Another thing, do they make aftermarket carpeting for the 2nd gens. I looked at the retail price from the dealer for just the FRONT carpeting and it was going to run me over 500 bucks, and that was at the employee price at the dealer! Rediculous I tell you!! Any ideas?
Thanks for lookin and any help or ideas you can provide would be great!

To address the rattles before you put everthing back together...
Make sure all of your trim and liners are tightened down. You may need some glue or rubber gaskets to get the last of the rattles. Sometimes you have to wedge and glue in a block of wood or a brace if its a sheet metal panel that's flexing and rattling.
The big boys in spl competitions sometimes weld in extra steel bracing to stop panel flex. I don't think you need to go that far, hehe.

Yeah, I'm working on getting rid of the rattles now...I've got all the PNS down except for the door panels and now I'm going through and doing last minute touchups, trying to get rid of any black that shows through except for the bolt holes...its pretty solid. I drove it with just a driver seat, driver seatbelt and all my wires for my system and there was a buncha noise.
Has anybody noticed like a blowing sound, it sounds a little like there is a window down in the back...but all my windows are up and doors are shut tight. Its kinda like theres a vent or something back there...its hard to describe. I'm hoping tonight I'll have my one of my buddies drive around and I'll sit back there and listen for it.
I've got most of the rattles down, the "speaker boxes" as I call em that hold the puny little 4" speakers, they were rattling pretty bad but it actually turned out to be the piece of the sheet metal that its mounted to so I just put a few strips of PNS on it to make it a little more ridgid and problem solved. Just thought I'd add that in case some of you have the same problem.
So, if you 2nd genners know of any typical rattle spots PLEASE let me know, especially if you know what I'm talkin about with the weird wind noise in the back.
Thanks guys! I'll have pics of the sound deadening up in the next few days, I need to get this done so I can free up my garage.

oooo - funsies!
Making some great progress!
Yeah - that squishy black stuff tears VERY easily. And unless you can piece it together, I would say take it out if it's too beat up. I only say this since the carpet will get a little lumpy if there are too many gaps in the stock sooundproofing. What I ended up doing was just putting the spray on sound deadener onto the metal and then doing a layer of regular dynamat type material on top of it. It still ends up thinner than the foam - just be aware that when you do this, any stereo wires under the front area might appear as ridges in the carpet. This happened to me, so it forced me to make sure all the cabling for the cap and 2 amps was nice and neat by running it down the sides.
As far as the carpet - I would try to reuse the current one if it's in decent shape. I can only imagine new carpet being less flexible and harder to put down. I would see if anyone else has any input on this part.
In terms of that wind noise? I have that in mine and the best I can come up with is an exhaust sound. When the car is accelerating it's there, but when I let off the gas and coast, it goes away. Very weird, but I don't event know where to begin. I have been meaning to pop off the cargo side panels and doing some sound proofing in there since I have already done the floor of the cargo area.
Good luck!
