I've been looking for a cheap way to stop my runner from bottoming out every time I hit a tiny little dip. The rear is so low that if my 150lb brother sits on the rear gate the axle is resting on the bumpstops. My rig is strictly an on road daily driver. My research has lead me to believe that a spacer lift is right for me. I'm looking for 2" max front and rear. Is there any noticeable difference between polyurethane and aluminum? If I decide to tow a small trailer sometime in the future will they handle the extra weight? If I put spacers on the rear do I need longer shocks? Any one have any input on good brands? Unless someone has a set of 99-00 stock springs they want to sell me.

 

daystar lift is probably the right one for you. it is 2.5 though but i dont think that half an inch would be much of a differnce for you. not sure though about the poly vs. alum.

 

I would just replace the springs with some stock height replacements. Spacers will solve the bottoming out on the bumpstop problem but its not going to fix anything as far as functionality of the suspension, especially if you plan to tow a trailor. Your 150 pound brother will still bottom out the spring only difference is, there will be a spacer keeping the axle and bumpstop from touching. Just a thought

 

I agree. Stock replacement springs are not that expensive. Probably about the same as spacers. You can buy from one of the online toyota parts places.

 

The 01-02s are lowriders to begin with. The front only has about .75 to 1" of downtravel before I am into those bumpstops. Just a quick search of ebay comes up with a four corner spacer lift for $130 shipped.

it's really up to you and your budget. to me spacers would only band aid the problem even if that. more like ointment and no band aid. any ways it would raise it up but who knows if it would really stop the problem, especially if you say you're planning to tow. if its true that a 150lb guy bottoms it out on dead weight then i would suggest changing the whole spring because the old one is shot.

 

After a little more thought and research, I found some 2" rear lift coils from WabFab, and some 2" alum spacers up front.
