Stop The buzzing

Does anyone know how to stop the buzzing that sounds when the key is the ignition and the door is open? I still want to be able to use the auto door light so just disconnecting that whole thing is not an option. Please help if you can, the buzzing drives me nuts .

Thanks,
Andy

I don't know about your truck cuz I have a 90, but more than likely there are 2 wires goin into it...just clip the one with the buzz.

I couldn't find it on my 4Runner. I just ended up disconnecting the door switch. I'd like to find it so my light will still come on with the door though.

The buzzing in most cars comes from a small buzzer that looks like a round/square box plugged into the top of your fuse block. Try to isolate the location and you can touch it to feel the vibration. Usually we just unplugged it from the fuse block and that was it. It might be different on newer cars.

Here the little bugger is.

It was located under the dash to the right of the steering column.

Look up above the pedals and there should be a black plastic cube. Although annoying, it helps to have the buzzer going so you can find the cube easier. Pull it off, disconnect the wires and pop off the top. Off to one side there is a small coil and a finger (basically a relay). Bend the finger down so it can't touch the contact and you'll be buzz free.

My dome light still goes on without that buzzer box in there so thus far no ill effects of removing it.
