Steering box Removal?
Today I was pulling my steering box to sell it off and got everything removed until I had to remove the pitman arm. The giant 1 1/4" bolt that connects the arm to the box wouldnt budge so next I went to the bolt with the cotter pin nut going into the steering linkage. I got the pin and nut off but the bolt would not come linking the two arms. Its one of those that is on a ball with a bushing between the two arms. Any advise on how to get this out? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Alex

The threads are in the "regular direction."
You need something called a Puller. I paid $6 for each for them and it takes the pitman arm and the rod end off in seconds. I needed two sizes, one for the rod ends and one for the pitman arm on the steering gear shaft. Like this: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=36861
You can also use a pickle fork, sometimes it's hard to get the puller to fit, and the pickle fork has to do. Also a really cheap too. Google for steering arm puller and picklefork, you'll get some how-to articles... This is a pickle fork: http://jtoutfitters.com/product/GRN25201
