Question starting issue

Hi everyone!

I've got a problem with my '91 4Runner. It starts perfecty when it's cold and hot, but it's hard to start when I drive for around 2 mins in the morning and then stop. What could it be?

Thanks for help.

What are the "symptoms"? Does it crank longer than normal? What's unusual about how it starts compared to a "normal" start?

It cranks much longer. The funny thing is that it starts perfect when completely cold (in the morning) and hot.

For example - after 2 minutes of driving and than stopping it cranks long, if driving for ten minutes or longer it starts perfect.

Glina, It sounds like you may have a sensor problem or maybe a solenoid trouble. Take loose the main hot cable on the starter and clean the post real well and put the wires back on. Do the same thing to the wires leading to the solenoid. Then tighten the bolts that hold the starter on. make sure you "DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERY CABLES FIRST"
For some reason you can have some strange things happen just from a loose connection. You may find that you will have to replace the contacts and that's a $10.00 deal and a couple of hours from start to finish. It doesn't sound like a starter problem but it does sound like electical trouble. If it was the starter then it probable wouldn't crank as well as it does, but that's just a guess on my end, Mike

Any check engine light? I've been experiencing some of the same problems but its weird because i pulled my fuel line off of my regulator and put it back on and it starts fine after that. Yesterday I got a code 12 which mostly deals with the distributor and a code 26 that deals with the fuel system. It can get complicated though trying to track stuff down.

I've got no trouble codes at all! And that is strange. I'm sure that check engine light works.

Starter works fine. It cranks good as new, but cranks too long in situation as above.
