Starter issues after water crossing. Replace starter or just contacts?
My truck was stuck in headlight high water for 20 minutes. Now the starter is acting up. Terrible time since i'm driving from vermont to florida. for the last week it's been giving a loud click, followed by normal start up. Last night, at 130am, at a gas station on route to my first destination, it decided not to start. after 2 hours of tapping i got it to go.
I seem to have this very issue here: http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/Starter.shtml
I'm at my families garage, we are starting on this procedure: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-ge...al-thread.html
Should I order contacts, or a rebuilt starter?
Where do i get a contact kit? dealership?
any input much appreciated. im on a major time crunch.
BTW, i love this fourm so far

if it were me, knowing that the whole thing had been dunked more or less, id go for the starter, heck it might even be more readily available than just contacts. once out, rebuild your other one at your leisure and have a spare.
