Question Is it the starter?

The last few weeks, most times I try to start my Runner up it just makes a clicking sound and doesn't even attempt to turn over. I found that when it does this, if I turn the key on, wait a few seconds (after I hear a couple of clicks under the hood) it usually will start right up. Sometimes this process takes several tries. Is my starter going bad?

Clicking sound is usually an indication of low voltage. Starter problems are "usually" indicated by no noise at all - turn the key and get absolutely nothing. Get a load test done on your battery.

I'm guessing you didn't search since I typed a similar response yesterday for someone else with a similar issue.

Yeah, actually I did search and most of the posts are talking about the contacts...I'll check the battery load first.

Might be an ignition coil, Take it to Autozone and they'll run a battery, alternator and starter test for free, that way you can narrow it down.

Certainly sounds like a voltage problem. You could luck-out and just have dirty battery cable terminals.
