SS 1.2 and tire question
Hey all, I have a quick question that searching hasn't really revealed an answer for me yet.
My Vehicle:
1996 4Runner Limited, 2" body lift and SS 1.2 lift with the front set 1 notch over the middle. I have a TJM T15 front bumper with Warn M8000 winch. Tires are 285/75/16 Kumho junk, no rubbing off road.
I plan to purchase a Shrockworks swing out rear bumper for my truck but they don't have any accommodations for body lifts so I'm going to take it off so my question is this: What tire are you running on your 4Runner with the SS1.2 lift and what rubbing issues have you encountered and what have you done to overcome them?
I don't do a lot of wheeling in the hardcore range but do take it across some trails that get me flexing quite a bit sometimes. We mainly do expedition type of wheeling and moderate wheeling but regardless I don't want to get rubbing if I flex it out.
So, does anybody out there have the 1.2 lift with 285/75/16 mud or at's and if so do you rub?
I have found a Kenda MT in 285/75/16 for $600 but I'm waiting to pull the trigger until I hear from you all.
Thanks in advance, Jason

This very recently came to my attention...

I am also considering Savage, which is a tube bumper. I don't know if you knew about 4xI's change in bl policy or if you're adamant on Shrockworks. I also have not yet researched 4xI's bumper w/carrier, either.
Anyway 96 SR5 w/chrome trim, SS 1.2 w/1" bl and 285/75r16 BFG KO A/T2 with 1" wheel adapters- some rub when stuffing but otherwise okay.
Have smooshed the pinch weld and trimmed the front oe bumper valance for clearance or I'd be rubbing lots.

Again, I haven't heard much about these and wasn't even thinking of buying one but now that they've got the body lift option it's in the ring. The weight still makes me lean towards a tube bumper...

There's also CBI, though maybe search about troubles with their tire carrier. I don't know if they've got a real issue (posts make it seem so) or if they've come up with a solution to it. Like you, I've been eyeballing rear bumpers with carriers, but I don't want to give up my BL.

Good info you found there, I didn't get on T4R but I guess I should have. I have a 2" body lift and will probably drop to a 1". I have a stake in the Shrockworks group buy when I had a Tacoma and Mark was nice enough to let me transfer my deposit to a 4Runner bumper and keep the discount but they don't have any provisions for a body lift at this time. I like CBI but they've never returned any of my messages about body lift options either. Irbis is the same, no returned messages. I do like the 4XI so I might start talking to them and gathering more info. I'd love to see the hi-lift cutouts on one of these bumpers and if they can match the Limited flare wheel well better (referring to the white 4Runner with the silver powdercoated bumper).
Thanks for all of the info, you seem to always have your ducks in a row Habanero!

I have SS1.2 and 1.5" body lift. I run 35" tires and 1.25" wheel spacers. I had to trim/pound the firewall area behind the front tires quite a bit, but I don't have any rubbing now. You should be fine with 2" body lift and 33" tires.
