Squeaking Belts, Sloppy steering

Ok this squeaking belt is about to drive me nuts. Everytime I start up the rig, it will squeak forever until it warms up. Then I'll drive it down the street and I'll come to a stop and it'll start squeaking again. This there any possible way I can fix this myself? What's wrong with it? Also when I turn the wheel on pavement I get some slippage and it starts squeaking then. Sometimes the wheel slips really bad.

I had pretty much this same problem without the sloppy steering...it was just that one of my belts needed to be tightened. Pretty simple fix, local place didn't even charge me for it

Ya know, I'm not really sure. I'm thinking the one that is attached to the ps pump. I get a really bad squeal when starting and also when try to turn on dirt while the rig is stopped.

Replace the belt. A temporary fix is to rub a bar of soap on the belt. That will quiet the belt down until you replace it.

Sloppy steering, check your tie rod ends, pitman and idler arms, if that all looks good, check your PS fluid level.

That almost sounds normal. It sounds like it is squealing when the PS pump is under the most strain. Now, either your steering gear (pump and/or gearbox/rack & pinion) is going (not likely) or it is the PS belt which needs to be tightened and/or replaced. This belt needs to be very tight, much tighter than an alternator/waterpump belt needs to be.

I think the power steering pump pulley may need to be replaced again. It has been replaced once before. It's making a loud noise again, so that might be the problem. I'm going to the dealership on Thursday, so I'll get them to check it out. I still have a couple thousand miles before my warranty is up.

Buy some belt dressing and spray it on the pulleys one at a time.
Then take it out and see if it still squeels....if yes try the next til you find the offender.
Then replace the belt and tighten to the correct tension.
