Spring spacer question???

If the Spacer is only 1" tall and it made the strut 1" taller. Will this add 2" of lift? I ordered a 2" lift spacer and it is only 1" tall. Does it have to do with the compression of the spring and the new height of the strut to equal the 2". I hope so....

Will this thing ride like crap now...
Thanks Chris

It must be precompressing the spring to claim 2" of lift from a 1" spacer.

1in spacer + 2inch lift sounds about right. It's a geometry thing. Your shock is in the middle of the A-arm but your tire is out at the end of the A-arm.

Spacers do not preload the spring, nor do they compress the spring anymore than normal (at ride height).

thanks

It really make the strut tight.... The spring is so tight it seems to curve some. I hope this comes out when I install and it is compressed some

Yes. Take a 2x4 and place one end on the ground and put something like a pop can in the middle so that the 2x4 is at an angle. Measure the distance from the ground to the top of the 2x4 (at the high end). Now put something underneath the can, like another 2x4, and re-measure the distance to the top of the 2x4. The 2x4 should be twice the width of whatever you inserted under the beer can.
