If you paint them people cant see them.So guess what when some rear ends you for not having break lights its your fault not theres.Some things you cant do.You wouldnt want to paint your head lights?If you your looking for something different get some tented covers or something.Becareful.

All you have to do is get the whole unit out of the truck and paint it. Not hard at all. When you do it. Get some fine sandpaper 200 grit is fine, then prime it before painting it. Good Luck, and get some pictures when you done.

A couple of years ago someone had posted a mod on one of these sites to get more luminous for your backup lights you painted the inside chrome or silver. Never heard of painting them black. Someone does make lights that appear to be black until you turn them on. It looks like the insde of the lens is a heavy window tint.

www.4crawler.com has the writeup on the inside silver to be brighter for the backup lights.......
if you wnat something different, get spray tint and tint the outside of the housing... if you wnat your housing all one color and there is more than one color, paint it red with the testors translucent paint spray for model cars

I have my tails painted red. BUT...it is NOT spray paint. It's a transparent model car paint. Regular spray paint is opaque, you can't see through it. That would not be tight for your tails, b/c then no one could see them. And that is also not tight.

if you have a 2nd generation 4runner or any kind of a toyota truck and are sick of the nasty orange i would deffinately do this it looks tight and only cost me 3 dollars. ill post some pictures later today.

yes the model stores have the paint the kind that you want is testors candy apple red paint it should say transparent on the label on the front of it. its easy to use but it takes kind awhile to dry which is kinda a pain.
