Smile I like the coke bottles.

And I have the split 3 spokes. Not that they are bad, mind you .

I need to get some new center caps - that would help dress mine up as they just don't hold up as well as the aluminum wheels do.

Best of luck !

Aren't the split 3 spoke style aluminum?

To OP, I like the split 3 spoke! One of my favorite Toyota wheels.

Both are aluminum.

The wheels hold up better than the painted, plastic caps was what I was trying to say - no matter what style you select.

See Post 6 for pics of what the various wheels look like on rigs.

The coke bottle ones are painted huh? They seem like they may get scraped up easier than the split 3 spoke. The split 3 spoke just looks like it has a polished look to them and no paint. I am getting some small rust pitting on the split 3 spoke ones though.

They are aluminum but were painted from the factory. It's not really rust but corrosion under the paint layer.

So technically I can just buff out the corrosion then? Can I leave as is after buffing, or should I repaint afterwards?

If you buff it enough to get the corrosion off, the paint will be gone and you will be down to bright metal. At that point, you have to repaint the whole wheel to make it look decent. That's what I did. I took the chance and went to Graphite, using Duplicolor Wheel Paint. See the Official Wheel Paint Thread on t4r.org--I'm in there along with a lot of others.

If you want to stay the same color, maybe you could touch up just those parts but someone else will have to help you there.

Red face

As long as the wheel is straight and can be balanced .

I can`t see them so either works for me as I have a set of each one on the 4Runner one on the Tacoma

5 spokes look better, just not (to my eye) *those* 5 spokes.

I'm not sure if the Tri-clops wheels look bad, or you just see them way too often.
