spit and sputter?

I've got an '89 22re pickup with all the mods seen below. Sometimes, mainly when I first start off for a few minutes, the truck seems to not be firing right. It gets real sluggish and acts like it's misfiring when you take off and idles real low. When I let off the gas to slow down it backfires pretty bad. But when I mash on the throttle it'll take off like normal. Now that I have the Venom 400 on it, whenever it kicks on the sluggishness stops like when I was mashing the throttle before. It usually quits once the truck warms up petty good. But it doesn't do it consistently. This is what makes me think its my throtte possition sensor(TPS), or mass air flow sensor (MAS). These 2 sensors are what the venom monitors. Any input is appreciated.
