sounds like valves

I just have a question, I have a 96 with 118k on it and I recently nothiced that when it is cold out I can hear what sounds like a valve noise at about 2500-3000 rpm. I only really drive on the freeway about 65 miles a day. I was wondering if the valves need to be adjusted on the 3.4 engine or is this common. Thanks for any help

If it goes away after warmup, then I wouldn't worry too much about it.The 3.4L has solid lifters and uses metal shims to set valve clearances so the shim clearances could be out a bit but adjusting them is a major PITA so I wouldn't do it myself unless it was really bad.

Could be an injector. One of mine is making noises from time to time...
