they lied, they sold you the wrong ones,
you need part number 044465-35290, I just bought my second set, they are huge, just like the last ones I put in almost 5 yrs ago and over 100K miles out of them

Tundra Brake Pads

I returned the brake pad kit and ordered the pads and shims separately. Considerably more expensive, but for an additional $45 I figure I want the best possible brakes I can get. I did get a response from the vendor I purchased the kit from that the cut-down pads were a new style. But as long as the other parts are available, I will stick with them.
