So............. Who has paid there 4Runner off?

I made my last payment in December. This is the first time since I started driving that I don't have a car payment. Let me tell you, it is great!
Now I'm just going to save my money for now. I'm thinking about buying an older vehicle (either a toyota truck or sports car) to have as a secondary vehicle. I hate not having a spare car. Right now, if something happens to mine, I have no way of getting around.
So, no payment is great. I'm glad I didn't buy anything really new because I would still be stuck paying for it. But I would have more power if I had bought something newer. I think it was a worthwhile trade-off as long as the 4runner doesn't take a crap on me.

My Dad had lots of 'rules / advice' when we were growing up. Number one was "If you can't pay cash for it, you'd don't need it." The only exception to this is your first house. The last time I paid interest was in 1977 (I was 31) when I paid off the mortgage on my first house.

Wow- I must say I am truly impressed with how most of you conduct yourselves (paying cash).
Generally speaking the only things I finance are our brand new cars , and our home which is on a 15yr @5%) . Just yesterday I signed for the first time ever a large loan for a new ironworker where before we had always bought business machines cash(or more correctly wiped out everything ie retirement etc). I am asset middle class , and cash poor.
I think I am going to go cry now......................

How about posting your age too? I am wondering if you guys are mostly older & very secure or just plain super smart!!!
I am 32 (just turned in Jan) married , and have two kids 4 & 6 y.o.
If I had stayed working at my old job it would have been pretty easy to save for a year , and buy outright.

Paid cash, if I can't pay for it, I won't buy it. Financing sucks, unless it's an investment, such as a house. Did the credit card thing in college, I won't go back to that.

I hate the fact that I had to finance the '95, but the day after closing on the house 1.5 years ago, I crashed my 85 Supra.
But, we're paying it off with the tax refund. Still waiting on a couple statements before we can file.

Paid cash for mine as well. Was going to buy a new landcruiser but thought I would leave my money invested and buy another 4Runner in a few years--half of it was in a company called global crossing--bankrupt Guess it is going to take a few extra years now!:pat:

Lets up the anty.......
If you paid cash, who paid the cash?
I'll spill the beans, I paid for 1/2 of the 99 and my dead realtives paid for the other half.
Wisconsin soil initally grabbed the FJ-62 as well.
My first truck back in 1986 the old man paid 1/2 and I paid 1/2.

Paid Cash
Paid cash...what the heck is that?
I owe I owe I owe...so off to work (overtime) I go!
But in 3-4 years when both my cars are paid off and my kids get out of daycare...watch out for mod city! I'll have so much extra money a month I won't know what to do with it (I'm sure my wife will).
