So, is Toyota listening? 4wd to 4x4 on mudflaps?

Remember, this is a company that tends to be *much* more thorough than its competition. I can understand some exceptions like a Toyota appearance at a TTORA takeover but that's something entirely different.

I think you'll get farther contacting Toyota about suggestions/criticisms and asking them to do something about it than posting it online and expecting them to find it and take the initiative to act on it.

Just my opinion, anyway.
Just remember one thing though - dissatisfied customers often tell 10 friends, satisfied customers usually tell one. Sometimes those friends are on an internet discussion board like this site becuase we are all of like minds and understand each other more that way. This is especially true with the internet. Hell even look at this board. You don't see someone posting about how good they think thier idler arm is, and how Toyota makes the best idler arms on 2nd gen 4runners (well, you may, but it won't come up as a subject neccessarily, usually just an anecdotal comment). NO, you see someone saying "I have a problem with my idler arm,I have some play in my steering, I need help," or "Toyota makes ĊĊĊĊty idler arms, and they need to work on it, I'm pissed off because they won't replace it under warranty, blah blah." They might not have the gull to tell Toyota to their face, so they'll come online to bitch instead. Even if someone contacts Toyota now with their problem now a days, they will often still, in the midst of the problem/dispute, go on an internet site (if they frequent a discussion board or two) and post about their problem and mention that they are dealing with Toyota. Or how about how many guys mention to the Toyota reps through their contacts that they have posted the problem/issue/dispute on an internet forum for everyone to see almost sort of like blackmail. The internet like I said is a very useful place for a manufacturer to garner info for future upgrades and find out problems. If they don't use the internet discussion boards then they should as they wouldn't be taking advantage of an extremely useful tool.

You know I'll tell you it's guys like us, the loyalists, the guys who are toyota enthusiats, who will sell a lot of Toyota's, for Toyota. I can tell you whenever someone comes to me asking about vehicle advice and stuff like that, I always try and find a way to fit them into a Toyota, or find what toyota would be good for them. Subsequently my girlfriend bought a Toyota last year, her first car, and her first new car. Everyone I work with knows the latest happenings from Toyota and the like becuase whenever we BS about vehicles, I mention what I heard/saw, etc. I even told my girlfriend that if we get married if the buys something other than a Toyota she might as well sign the divorce papers. Yeah, a little zealous but I love my truck and they make great vehicles. They should take advantage of guys like us, who take the time to post on the boards. I'm sure they must. Like I said they'd be stupid not to.

Wait until your truck is 15 years old. You'll get your wish.

those were OK, but the '81 decal package was the coolest looking. there were 2 or 3 variants.

that's my favorite, a guy in my neighborhood had one a long time ago. also, there's a variant that replaces the blue with red. there's somebody that drives a very nice looking one around in my area.

Yeah that's pretty awesome too! You know, they did the "stripe package" and it changed every year all the way up until the intro of the Tacoma, but it seems like the oldest ones are the coolest. Everybody wants to buy a "new" 1985 4runner, I'd definetly take one, but I'd sure love a 79-83 4x4 pickup! Man those things are still sweet today!!!

The 4x4 is worth 10 HP. The 4WD is worth 8 hp. So I vote 4x4.
