Yeah, I've broken my 3/8" ratchet by using a lever bar over it... Now I'll just use the breaker bar with a lever bar over it and won't break another ratchet that way.

Yes, its the mechanism inside the ratchet which snaps...not usually the outer metal.

Just a side note--i laugh at my typing sometimes--By instead of Buy......

But i do admit that i busted one of the new plastic handled craftsman only using brute arm power. But the anniversry ones seem to be the way to go

Agreed. Best $15 I've spent.

I've only broken Husky ratchets, tho I still primarily use a husky tool set, (1/4 and 3/8") as its nice kit, small compact and fits nicely in my toolbox. Never broken anything out of it yet and its been used and used and used. Good stuff.

But all of my 1/2" ratchets are craftsman and i use em all as nutbreakers with handy piece of 24" metal pipe.

I just keep a Gorilla in the tool box for those stubborn bolts.

Cheap tools are just that. Invest in a good set of tools with a lifetime warranty. I have a bunch of my grandpas old Craftsman tools that were made the first part of the century and they are still going strong. Never broken any of them and never had a problem on any diff bolts just using a rachet and my gorilla.
