snow plows for the 4Runner

Can anyone tell me if this plow will fit my 3rd gen 4Runner '99? The seller had it on his 97 & 04 Tacoma. I need one for a new home I am buying in Indiana and this would be great if it would fit. I emailed Western but their CS sucks. days later and still no reply.

It may fit but that plow is WAY to heavy imho for that small of a truck. A 6' 6" plow is about the ideal size for a smaller pick up/suv like a toyota.

My buddy learned the hard way with his dodge, pro setup 8ft plow on a 1500. He blows wheel bearings every single storm doing just his and a few other driveways.

So let me ask this. Can you cut the blade down to 6 1/2'? The price is right at $1300.

I've seen Toyota frames literally snap in half from having too big of a plow on the front... I wouldn't risk it

That's alot of money for something you got to re fab. I've seen several CJ jeeps around here pushing a plow of a small size. I'd do some searching and try to find a plow of a small size. Keep it simple. Buy one that uses a winch to raise and lower it. The light you go the better performance you will get out if your yota. Get one to heavy and chains sent gonna make a big difference.

Isnt the frame on the tacoma the same as the 4runner? I guess im confused why it would damage the runner and not the tacoma.

Its similar but not the same. And trust me, his frame is probably damaged. That plow is for a fullsize truck with a v8-I wouldnt even hang it on anything less than a 3/4 ton.

What damages stuff isnt so much the weight of the plow itself, its the fact your trying to push snow with it. This puts a heck of alot of stress on everything, but especially where the plow frame is bolted or welded too.

As for 1300 bucks, that is not a steal by any means. 800 would be a steal. The only plow I would hang off a toyota tacoma/4runner would be a poly blade home owner type.

Interresting thread... I've had the same 6.5' Uni-mount plow on 3 different Toyotas over the last 20 yrs. '91 Runner, '93 Pickup, and ,04 Tacoma.
Both the Runner and the pickup died of terminal frame cancer no damage from the plow whatsoever. I used 26mm torsion bars to handle the extra 600+/- pounds. The same plow has been on the Tacoma for 6 winters now and I am quite pleased. Could not find higher rate springs so I went with Timbrens
(pt# TOFTUN4) from Wheelers Off Road. They mount to the lower control arm and act like an aux. spring. As far as I could tell from a side by side comparison between a friends 3rd gen and my Tacoma, the part where the plow mount bolts up is identical. The condition of your frame is critical in your decision as is how carefully you plow. Where are you in the Peoples Republic? I have an old rusty but serviceable 6.5' blade I need to get rid of
(FREE) I just bought a new one.

It's just the blade not the whole plow. It will fit the same frame that comes with the 7' plow you were talking about buying. If you wanted a narrower blade.
