small lift on my new rig
ok i just picked up a 98 4runner 2.7 5spd black for my daily driver. i want to do a small lift to it to make it look better (i also have 31x10.5 mud rovers lying around). i dont want to spend over 250 and im thinking spacers front and rear 2.5".
can i fit 3" spacers up front without something breaking?
whear can i find the lowest price spacers?
aluminum vs nylon spacers?
are there any other good ways of lifting it a little for cheep? (body lift is out of the question!!)

in my opinion, either spend more for a good spring lift, or do the body lift. I am not a big fan of the spacer lifts. i feel that they make the car unstable and jittery. but there are a few kits out there, daystar being one of them.
3" of front lift is hard on the CV's, definately invest in a diff drop kit.

Second the vote for waiting for a better lift.
Also, those 31's will look pretty small on a runner lifted 2.5 inches...
If I were you and bought that runner for daily driving I wouldn't lift it and put big heavy tires on it, doesn't bad gas mileage and a poor ride from a spacer lift defeat the purpose of a daily driver...

well im only going to do a cheep lift now and when i have enough money for another vehicle this one will be for the trails and ill probably end up putting in a solid axel so i dont want to spend allot of money now on a good ifs lift because my trail rig now has a 4in trailmaster and i hate it.

I have OME 891's in the back and 2.5 inch Toytec front spacers in the front. The spacers made the front a bit more stiff but nothing to whine about. I also have the 1 inch differential drop kit and 2 inch BL with 285/75/16's.
Total cost for suspension was around 285.00 (some items were used)
Total cost for Body Lift was around 145.00 or so...
Good luck.
BTW- Alot of people have found that running a 3 inch front spacer usually causes the CV's to puke...so I would recommend staying with 2.5 inch or lower with diff drop kit.
Here is a pic before my LC wheels and 285's.

i would not put spacers in the rear, i would go with springs, but thats just me, i know a few more people on here would also agree, if you must lift with spacers, i would only do so in the front, and go with ome in the rear, not to exspensive. and not a bad combo

Iran a spacer lift for about a year. I would reccomend it, your not going to do any serious wheeling with it, but for looks you will be fine. I have 3" up front, and it works fine, but you HAVE to drop the front diff. Get the sonoran steel diff drop. OTher then that you will be fine, your stock shocks will work up front. Your gonna kill the rear ones pretty quick, but you can get 2 more later.
I prefer the poly spacers over the metal ones, they provide for a bit softer of a ride, and they do not sag or give.
Yeah there is better stuff out there, and no matter what you buy there always will be. If your just looking for something to play around with, like I was, get them, and you can always hawk them on e-bay later and buy some OMEs, or OEMs. Go for it dude.

ok i found some front 2.5in spacers for the front for 55 bucks but i cant find any rears for that cheep u would think fronts are more expencive. any help? thanks

theres a pic of my 99 with stock 31's too show how they look with about 2.75 rear lift and 2.3-2.5 front lift, all spacer, i will be switching to the actual spring lift later, but the spacers work pretty well, bumpy a little, but you will get that with a spacer or a spring as it changes the suspension arm travel angles up front
