Slow Windows

This is for my mom 98 Land Cruiser. Her Windows are both so slow that it seems like they are just going to quit everytime they go up and down. Does that mean the motors are going out or do they just need to be greased?

The tracks for the windows are getting a little thin on the lube side.

Maybe a heavy spray of silicone would help make em slide easier.

My 99 doe's the same thing.

Hey I had the same problem in my 91 4runner. It got so bad that my windows did go out and I had to have a friend look at them. The problem is that the tracks get dry and this causes strain on the power supply. If the strain is bad enough it causes the plugs to carode and could ruin the windows. My buddy lubed my tracks for me with some silicon spray and then he cleaned the carosion off of the plug end that goes into the window relay under the dash on the drivers side. He said if I would have waited longer I would have needed a new relay.

This is a simple fix for many people, but they just don't know what the problem is and dealerships will emediatly say its the relay when it just needs a little cleaning. I hope this helps you out and that your problem isnt something bigger. Good luck

Get an aerosol can of silicone lube, roll the windows down and spray the tracks/guides for the windows. Front window track/guide, rear window track/guide.

Just soak em and let the silicone drool on down the track/guides.

Take the door panels off, and lube the window track.
