Yeup, I agree, and that's how I presented it to Richard.

I pointed out that it would save him the time, hassle and fees of dealing with a number of eBay auctions, plus give him a known block of work that he could count on.

good looking sliders. the maker of the sliders is pretty cool. i emailed him a few weeks ago about getting a set straight from him. great prices!!! i would only add gassets where the sliders weld to the frame.

Yeup, Richard wrote me this morning at 1am (his time and mine) to say that he'd just gotten in from a dirt bike ride and would drop me a line about the "group buy" after he got some sleep.

That was pretty above and beyond!

It doesn't.

If you don't buy an aftermarket bumper, you either need to remove or cut the ends of the valance off... When the valance gets jammed in a tight spot, it pulls the flimsy bumper down with it.

Ok, that explains it. I couldn't deduct that because I looked and saw bent bumper then looked down and saw the skid plate (not stock) and didn't notice the valence had been trimmed so I was a bit confused on the link between the two. I'm all better now. I thought about taking the whole valance off when I notice that two weeks ago in my last run behind the neighborhood but I didn't want those two pokies to protrude out and I didn't want to permanently alter the valence so I can sell it when I get my arb bumper.

What's wrong with weld on? Good welders are pretty easy find, it's only about a 30 minute job, and if you ever want to take them off a sawzall with a metal cutting blade can cut them flush to the frame, making it stock again. Here's an example of a good weld:

I've sent an email off to Richard asking about bolt-ons. Personally, I like the thought of being able to trust a good weld over a bolt.

Damn man, I just love the way your rig looks. It's agressive looking and everything is in proportion. The lift, tires, roof rack, and now the sliders make it look like the perfect off-road machine.

There's nothing wrong with the weld on. I need to be able to take it off when my mom comes in town so I can slap the stock step plates on so she can get in. She had bilateral knee replacements so she has a hard time getting in now that the rig is lifted. the sliders would be alright but I'm afraid she might slip and I don't want to see her have to go through what I saw her go through for about 6 months ever again. those things are strong (knees) but only front to back in the hinging range. any side load and they can blow easier than real knees. I thought about sandy traction tape, but that's all I need, first she slips, then she skins her shins up really good on the tape and then blows a knee out. not a pretty picture to envision. trust me, I'd rather have the weld on type but...
