Hey Doink,

Welcome to the forum. Actually, your question will probably get a lot of responses because it is an easy question. Sliders are basically a heavy duty nerf bar. They are meant to protect the sheetmetal near under the doors from boulders and such. They're called sliders because they can support the entire weight of the truck while sliding on rocks. AKA rock rails or boulder bars in other off road circles.

I'm sure you have more questions so take a look at the 4runner FAQ on this site. If there's anything else just ask.

Steve

PS. I'm sure somebody here will post some pics of their sliders.

Doink, Steve pretty much summed up what sliderz or sliders are.
With a good slider, you can go over an obstacble and not bang up your rig so much.

For a detailed look at my sliderz, look on page IV of my mods section.

There are also several posts here of some custom sliderz also:
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...=&threadid=754

Jackson will have pics pretty soon:
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...hlight=sliders

Also in the Vendors section on the main Yotatech page, are some links to makers of sliders such as All Pro, Badland Bumpers who made mine and Dok's, and 4Crawler Offroad, Kong's, Extreme Offroad, Rockstomper, just to name a few.

Generaly these are not an over the counter part you just go and buy.
Most makers make these up upon request, which doesn't take more than a day to make.

Welcome to the forums too

Hope this helps,

Corey I see that you got your 3M tape on. Looks good! Did it solve the rock chip issue?

It should Joey.
With the clear tape at the areas where it got chipped, and with the 3M Outdoor Treads (as the box calls them), they should be well protected.

The only area left exposed basically are the bottoms, and those are going to get scraped anyway on stuff.
That area will have to be touched up from time to time.

Eric, those are the sliders I was looking at a couple months ago. How do you like them? Lately I have been thinking about the bolt on ones that were posted on the Hardcore forum. I think both were about the same price, and both look really good.

I love my All Pro Sliders, wouldnt trade them for any other slider. If you plan on wheelin and usin the sliders get the weld on kind, if you are going for looks I'd get the bolt on kind because it will be cheaper overall, my sliders were $90 to get welded on

All Pro was great to deal with. Go to Pirate4x4.com/forum they have nothing but great things to say about All Pro.
