Slick Deal 800W Inverter

Ok, I've been looking around for an inverter for my truck. I just wanted something little like 300W for camping and such. Then I came across this bad boy... Its a coleman 800W modified sine wave power inverter capable to 1600W surge. If anyone is looking for one here is the link... I haven't got mine yet but its already ordered. Anyone have any input on this brand of inverter, or would anyone care to comment on inverter install. I'm going to hardwire the thing and any comments would be nice.

Your alternator should be fine unless you are pushing a serious stereo system or running a welder.

Dunno where you are in the world, but check your local CostCo or Sam's club. I picked up a 1000/2000w inverter a while ago for $70. They still sell them for that at my local CostCo.

Alternator wise, Mr. Alternator is my vote. I bought a 180amp alternator for $235 shipped and after a year, it's doing QUITE well: http://www.mralternator.com

I ordered the same inverter on Father's Day. Mine hasn't shipped either. Here's what they told me in the email...

"Dear Valued Customer ,
There seems to have been a distributor delay with your order.
I will contact my distributor and urge them to supply tracking
information or try to expedite your order.
I will also email you a tracking number with 48 hours from the time it
is generated.
We Thank you for your understanding."

I've got a feeling that I'm not the only one who got this same email. I'm gonna send them another email and let them know there are a lot of disgruntled folks on Yotatech that want their inverters.

Sounds like a plan... I ordered mine on the monday after fathers day and I've gotten no word yet. I'm getting ready to move in two weeks and I'm thinkin that I should call them and tell them to ship it to a buddies house cause I haven't the foggiest idea when they are shippin this thing. If anyone gets any news let the rest of us know... I'll do the same. And thanks for the info Matt.

Well, they didn't voluntarily send one. I sent them one a couple of days ago wanting to know the status of the order. That's the response I got. They better get their crap together and get us our stuff!!

Talking One more week

Well, it has been two weeks so far, and the inverter hasn't shipped and I haven't heard jack. If something doesn't happen this week, I'm going to give them a wake-up phone call and if that doesn't help, then I'll just cancel it and call AMEX to make sure it never gets charged. A good deal isn't a good deal if you never get it!

I agree. I'm giving them a call on Monday to see whats up. And to let them know to ship it to another address or upgrade my shipping to 2nd day air for free.... we'll see what happens. I'll let everyone know what I find out

No probs... I'm glad that it seems it'll work out for you. It's a nice box, I've run a jigsaw, blender, electric drill and a couple of other things off of it.

Man, this sure does sound familiar...

I sent them another email yesterday and told them that there were a lot of people on Yotatech that were pissed because none of their orders had shipped. I got the same response I did last week. Apparently, it's some auto-generated response. Has anyone called them? If not, I'm gonna call tomorrow. Later.

I just talked to a "customer service rep" (what a joke) a few minutes ago. After putting me on hold for several minutes, she gets back on and tells me that it will be the first of next week before they even have them in from their "vendor". After that, it will take 3-5 business days to receive it, assuming they ship the same day that they actually get the freakin items that they're selling. This place is pathetic. I'll never do business with them again. Anyone ask them about cancelling their order?

Talking Patience

We'll see how it works out, I'll be patient for a while for a good deal, but if it drags out I'll just cancel the sucker.

I just got an email from UPS. Mine is on the way. Scheduled delivery is July 2. I guess the woman I talked to today had no clue what she was telling me. Later.

Do you guys think I could run a 115v/15a/1725w welder with a 2000 watt inverter? That would be sweet!
