Silver_truck's head rebuild (like Morphines)
Hey, so I started tearing apart my engine today to get the burnt valve fixed and hopefully restore compression up from 20 to somethin around 150 higher, hopefully they'll all be up, dunno yet. Here's pics from what I got done today today. Will be taking it all to the machine shop tomorrow and having them put in my O/S valves (engnbldr), completion date is lookin to be next Thurs so that I can get it broken in and ready to go to Spokane on Friday and Reiter on Sunday. Anyone know how long it takes roughly to get your injectors clean? Mine are going on 400,000 miles and have never been cleaned. Thanks and here's some pics of the work so far.

I used www.cruzinperformance.com for my injectors....They said the wait time is about a week.... Typically it's 3 days though.... EVERYONE whose used em that I can find on LS1tech, here, supraforums, and a multitude of other boards loves em.
12.00 per injector + shipping for flow testing, cleaning, new o rings and everything, reflow testing, and balancing.

Ok so I got the heads off tonight, they go into the machine shop tomorrow (Piston Services) to have be cleaned up and have the O/S valves put in etc. going to jump on cleaning up my pistons and scraping the block tomorrow along with trying to find someone local that cleans injectors, don't think I have the time to send them to Cruzin I need them by next Thursday. Anyone know a good way to clean my pistons off? Carb cleaner and a brush is what i plan on. Here's pics of todays work.
Number 6 the one with 20 psi is the right cylinder in the following picture
And is the left one in the following pic
Will keep updated on how its going along, really wish I had the money to put headers on at this time, would be a hell of a lot easier If anyone is tring to figure out how to get the exhaust manifolds off and crossover etc. I just put some Kroil on them the night before I started and they came right off. Does anyone know how to put a crankcase breather on a 3vz? Thanks

To get the carbon of the crown of the piston use some carb cleaner and a gasket scraper. Be careful using a brush, you can scrach the wall of the cylinder pretty easily. Just turn the motor over untill the piston is at the top of the stroke and start scrapin!

Dudebud: I don't know I'll have to check after I get some of the crap cleaned off, its pretty thick so I dunno if I'd get a good indication I'll let you know after I get them gleaned off a bit.
BumpinYota: They were changed to brass plugs about 80,000mi ago or so, it wasn't that tough if I remember right, just drilled a small hole in them and used a little hookto reach through the hole and pull them out, then just used a rubber mallet to pund the new ones in

Awesome job
I've been tied up with the flu so seeing this post I want to get out to the garage and work my A$$ off now. Thankfully I don't have a time frame other than sooner is better. Could you take a pic for me of where the "Freeze plugs" go. Little confused.
This sucks you're gonna get the job done quicker than me, and with a lot less headcahe to it sounds like. Sweet though, let the 3vze engine live.
