_If_ turbulence in the tube was a good thing, then it'd be gone when it pushed on through the throttle body, and further hosed up when it hit the plenum.
Like has been said in a recent thread about throttle body spacers, there's no reason to stir up the air on _these_ engines. You want a nice smooth straight shot from the outside world to the inside world. Anything else will create vacuum pockets (voids) which rob the engine of airflow.

No problem.........
Actually , If you look at the air delivery.....it runs along ribbed rubber elbows,
passing by a sensor and making a hard right turn etc.
I'm just wondering if the 1/4 inch rubber edges inside the 3" aluminum tube will
do anyhting bad. Here's my quick review with that 3" aluminum tube.
As of 30 minutes ago : I had just finished numerous mods and services at one time last night and today. 4 Bilsteins, swaybar bushings, throttle body service, air silencer retro fitted with a 3" aluminum tube, new plugs, amsoil filter cleaning and MAF sensor cleaned of dirt. I disconnected the battery for 10 minutes. Off I go.
I completely forgot I did that silencer thing.
The second I hit the gas leaving from my house my attention was
IMMEDIATELY drawn to the smooth strong snappy take off of my runner.
Feels like a new car. Not to mention a whole different tone and throaty
growl. Thats all I'll say. Kenny S>
Oh and that cannister breather hose?? Who knows???
I just tie wrapped it to the nearest hose and left it open.

UPDATE 2/13/07 - Both pieces I had extra sold. I can look into making up some more if there's more interest.
I had a piece of polished aluminum done up at a local performance shop for my ISR on the 2002 4Runner. I had to buy a larger piece than I needed so I had them cut it up for me. If anyone needs a nice piece to complete an ISR mod I've got two extras.
Benefits are it's 2.75" all the way through for better air flow than the expanded 2.5" exhaust tubing. It looks better and won't rust. It's already cut at 5.625" and I hand sanded both cut ends with 220 wet dry to make sure it's smooth and bur free.
$17 plus shipping.

i got an idea.............
why cant i just shave down the three nubs where the silencers were and wrap the whole tube with exhaust pipe wrap. and poke the barbs for the vaccum hoses and plug em up. first draft but i think something like that would work. im gonna try it sat. afternoon. tell me what you think.
