Silencer Mod alternative?

I'm guessing that the deckplate and silencer mods will NOT cause my stock runner to ping with regular unleaded.
Lord knows I'm not stuffing super in there.
Also...what did you have the ends of that tube flared to??

runner hose
On a 99 runner silencer box, that breather hose is just that right ??
A breather ?
Is there an altenative to stick in the end to cap it off or to let it breath??

I'll bet that you're talking about the hose coming from the EVAP canisters on the driver's side fender. Those are charcoal canisters that are there to filter out nasty vapors coming from the fuel tank. It runs back into the intake for environmental reasons, but also keep in mind that it's the fuel _vapor_ that burns.
You really should hook it up back into the replacement intake tube.

The spot you're talking about is before the MAF, and I dunno how it'll respond down the road after sucking fuel vapors for a while. It may not hurt it, or it may cause some issues.

You would think it would be fine. The MAF sucks on exhaust fumes all day long. All I know is certain silicones are bad for it.

just t-eed to a hose that pulls off the front of the intake (as you are looking at the engine from front)... I think it comes out between the "fold" of the intake manifold, and bends up and attaches... ?? i never took a pic though. I swear its in a write-up somewhere

Forgive me for not being more helpful, but here is the picture of how I did it. I took the hose off the intake resonator and teed it to the other .... once again, forgive me. I am beat.

I am looking at doing this also. I found an aluminum pipe that will work great so now all I have to do is deal with the vac line.
I have that same vac male fitting on the front of my upper intake plenum but it is just capped off. Nothing running to it at all. Something I noticed while messing with this stuff it that when I uncap that male fitting the engine begins to sputter which seems normal all things considered. I also noticed that it has a very strong vac when I put my finger over the open end.
However when I take the vac hose off the Intake silencer box that we are removing, it has very minimal vac at that male fitting.
So I wonder if I just put the Intake silencer hose on the plenum fitting that is now just capped of will it effect the fuel pres regulator operation because it will have much more vac to the line?
Any opinions?

yeah I asked Mark (Midiwall), a few questions about this over PM's, I think I'm still gonna look into it a bit more though tomorrow, cuz as you say I dont remember as great of a vacuum being present off the resonator/silencer box, but it makes perfect sense that it would be the same... so until then, i don't know. Right now I think I understand it, and Ive been running it that way for a while now (6+ mo), but if there's any doubt tomorrow, I'm just gonna reroute the original vac to a nipple that I will weld into the aluminum pipe I have.

The nipple on the silencer is just that......an open nipple.

An open vacuum line would cause issues right off the bat.
My point earlier.......either place a barbed 2 way in the hose and run a long extension off near the airbox or you can double up the hose with tie wraps along the hose that connects before the MAS.

Here's another version
I took a 5 -3/8 inch of 3" thinwall aluminum tube and put it OVER both
the rubber receptical ends where the clamps go. No clamps
I'm guessing this would cause turbulence in the air going to the throttle body.
AirRAid puts little baffles in some of their throttle body hoods to CAUSE this type of turbulence. Makes for a better mixture...not sure.
What do you guys think??
