Here's mine:

It was in the truck when I bought it. I like it (for now), so I kept it.

how about some ideas for random objects to use a shift knob untill i get a rock knob or something?...a baseball wouldnt be bad but kinda large and i dont play...how about the head of a bobble head doll? (yes with the spring lmao its not like i shift fast in this thing.) how about some random odd and ends car parts?...o i got one that i wouldnt even need to drill but it would need to be replaced often..an apple..you know just in case i get hungry i can unscrew it and take a bite..hopefully i wont get stuck in traffic and comeout knobless.

FORGET THAT STUFF

tommorow im off to the toy store for a plastic banana..yes ill post pics when its done..i might fill it with sand and a piece of metal with thread for weight..haha ill have pics up in a few weeks whenever i get around to doing this

don't mind all the crud on the floor...the truck's full of tools and miscellaneous bolts from me putting a new engine, clutch and tranny in...just gotta get that darn carb back from the shop so i can actually drive it...

i think i paid $8 for my knob...thought it'd be sacreligious to put my old 4 speed knob back on, and the 5 speed one that came with the tranny had it's metal label scratched nearly into oblivion and falling off. i really, really hate the metal part on the factory shift knobs, they freeze my hands early in the morning. this one feels really good in my hand...just gotta watch out that i don't smack my head unit while shifting gears with that long stick

My buddy's brother worked for a company that manufactured replacement joints. And his brother was able to score him an artificial knee to use as a shift knob. It was pritty cool looking.

I little off subject, but I'd like to make custom shift knobs. Does anyone know where to buy the threaded insert to build a shift knob around? Thanks

a machine shop might be able to make them for you. if your material is suitable(metal, hard plastic etc) you could even just drill and tap it

another idea for shift knobs, go find an old briggs and stratton lawnmower engine and get the piston out of it. should be small enough to make a good shifter

I found a knob on ebay that looks like the TRD knob, for about 20 bucks. Very comfortable... http://www.pcez.com/~pcollins/90Toyo...P8140064sm.jpg

I once had skulls but got rid of them...

When I had my old Chevy, I bought a 3" ball bearing and paid a machinist to put a threaded hole in it. It took him quite a while and he said he didn't want to do it again. But, the weight of the bearing made shifting super easy. Total cost - $35 including the price of the ball and the machinist's labor.

I WAS THINKING OF FABBING UP A SWITCH THAT WILL GO ON THE SHIFTKNOB WITH THE COVERS OVER THE SWITCH OR BUTTON (LIKE THE ONES YOU SEE TOM CRUISE USING IN HIS JET "TOP GUN") SO THAT IF SOMEONE CUTS U OFF OR YOUR WHEELING, FLICK THE COVER UP AND HIT THE SWITCH-... WITH A MOVEMENT OF YOUR THUMB. wHAT DO U GUYS THINK?
