I just might join in the fun. Gotta see how my little 2wd hangs with the 4x4 crowd.

And I remember May 18th pretty well too, I was in Kennewick sittin on the back deck with my dad, wondering why the sky to the west was looking so dark. Then we turned the radio on and found out. Hard to believe that was 24 years ago.

Screw the pooch! I was skipping high school as a jr in Hillsboro, OR when Mt. St. Helens took a powder. I was selling ashes to fools in Texas for over a year. Was collecting ashes from gutters I was paid to clean.

It surely isn't the same up there. I kinda respected that old man who stayed till they end.

My Dad was in the paint business then. He made bling bling off of the idiots who hand washed their car and ruined their paint jobs.

Hey all... Since no one seems to have any problems with the 5/15 date I'm going to go ahead and book us into the shop.

We REALLY need to have a committed number of people to do this. We have to have at least 5 to get the $75 rate. If we show up at the shop with just 4 people, we're all looking at paying $95 each for the runs.

I'll post back once I get a firm booking with the shop... These are the guys:

Carburetor Connection
13611 NE 126th Pl. Suite 240
Kirkland, WA. 98034
(425) 820-1871

Saturday May 15th (time forthcoming)

Seattle Dyno Day is Scheduled!

We're set!

Saturday May 15th, at Carb Conn in Kirkland (address above)
10:00AM!!! 10:00AM!!! 10:00AM!!!

I told "Alex" that we're looking at about 9 people with a mix of cars. He said that if all 9 show up, then we'd be out in about 3-4 hours.

Get any fine tuning done this weekend with your on-board computers and such, replace your air filters, clean your throttle bodies and let's go!

I'll post a couple of nagging reminders next week.

Sweet that is only about 2 miles from my place, I'll be there to watch the testosterone fly. Wouldn't want to have to roll out the 3.0 and show everybody up.

Pretty close to the QFC on 124th. I can see the high school field on the other side of a green belt. You? Maybe we can carpool over or at least caravan over to the dyno place.

Dyno Day

Hey while you guys are testing Saturday ask about
possibilities with upgrading a 2003 GMC 1500 4/4 crew cab
6.0 liter 3.73 gears in the rear and front. I already have a K& N filter
and dual exhaust. What do I do next?
1 Pro- Flash Tuner
2 Helix power tower
3 changer rear end gears to 3.40 or 3.08 s

Limitless

Pro-Flash, maybe re-gear (I know little about gearing), and...

This in an injected engine, right? If so, never put a power-tower on it. The PT's will smooth out throttle response for a pure stock engine, but once you have access to the tuner and given that you've increased air-flow, then it will do next to nothing.

It is fuel injected and computer controlled. I thought by reprogramming and changing differential ratios it woud give lower rpms at higher speeds thus
lower demands on engine when running between 80-100 mph but
I would lose the low end torque. Differentials: lower the number the higher top end ie. 2.71 the other end is 4.28 Ie: 1/4 mile race quick and fast.

Ah... so you're looking to use the programmer to do what then, change your shift points to keep the torque up after you re-gear for quick take-offs?

Sounds like a plan. You're lucky that you have a rig who's ECU has the ability to be reprogrammed. All of us Toyota folks have to look at running piggy-back units to lie to the ECU.

Have fun!

Ideal Truck

This is my ideal truck I have worked for a long time to get.
Now it is time to, up it to my expectations. In High School I had a
Ford truck that would get 16 mpg on the highway. top end of 160 mph and break both tires loose in all three shift points. What I am aiming at
is 20 mpg and maybe not so much tire spinning on this truck. But still be able
to pull the tractor if it gets stuck in the mud or yank my boat down the road.
I started at 12 mpg now with the air filter and dual exhaust I average 13.7
although the dual exhaust won't let me keep my foot out of it. YA know what I mean!!!!!!!!!!
Gotta run ___________till tommorrow CST 6:30p

hmm..maybe i'll show. Mainly just to meet people, don't care to much to spend money on the dyno.

Although i have to say, i don't like that place. Last time i went there to have them check my truck out, it took 1 hour and 15min for them to even START to look at it, i had an appointment at 10. they didnt start till 11:15. Than said well can't do it, need $400. Oh well, i'll go there to watch and meet people (finally)

Serith;

Ya' know... we'll just have to work this one by ear... I think that you can find bad and good experiences with any shop, retailer, buddy or pet. I'm hoping that this works out 'cause I have friends from YT coming, friends from work coming, and people that I've never met coming.

Thank you for sharing your experience, and I'm sorry that you had trouble - but finger's crossed that we have a good one.
