Yea dude I hate the gold emblems, Were did you find your grill. I dont know if a all black one would look better than the chrome one?

I may have found a hood if shipping isn't too expensive. Looks like the hood doesn't have the bulge piece either.
How can I avoid being ripped off on Craigslist? Using PayPal? I've never done any business on that site. I would be at ease if it was a local deal but the hood will have to be shipped.

Well you realy just have to trust the person. Make sure they pack it right. Thoes hood corners are very fragile.

fyi the scoop hardware will cost you quite a bit more money if I remember right. I thought I was getting an insane deal for a hood, and then the parts guy called me back saying he forgot to add the scoop kit which was like $150-180 or something crazy...

I've talked to the seller thru email a few times and it is getting shady. I've asked for better pictures and none have been sent (says it's perfect, just repainted). Also asked how he would ship and he said through an "independent" company. I won't buy this hood without better pictures and being able to track my package.
If anybody wants to check this hood out, it's on the San Diego Craigslist.

I'm still looking for a sport hood for my '99, hope to find one in millenium silver...doubtful, but I can always hope. Otherwise I am just going to throw down the $$$ at a dealership. I think the sport look is so much better.Eventually I would like to get a supercharger, but for now, the BrutForce cold air gives it enough extra power.

i ordered all the parts through the dealer and i've got a tip for you.
only buy:
hood
scoop
2 scoop insert pieces
maybe the rivets
i got all the little "protector" things and its a waste of money, and some of them i had no clue where they even went. if you are worried about the pieces rubbing and causing damage, i just put a thin bead of RTV in certain spots to keep it from making contact, and it's just as good as the little plastic and rubber things toyota sells. woulda saved me some $$ if i knew that. you can get the nuts and washers at a hardware store, and i got 4 rivets for the insert pieces and they all broke! then i went to ACE hardware and bought some stainless hex head bolts and nuts and attached it with those. even painted them black so you can't see them.
just an FYI if you go to the dealer, they will .05 and .10 you!

Hood: $412
Bulge: $130
Plate: $15
Guide: $15
that was with my 20% off too. the other pieces probably added up to another $50 or more and they aren't worth it. the pieces DO NOT come painted to match, that was additional (mine cost another $285 to paint with a discount from my brother-in-law). so it's not a cheap dress up option, but it does look real nice. you might want to look in the Marketplace section for vendors who are friendly to yotatechers. i want to say there is some one at Northridge Toyota, there is ToyotaParts4U.com or something, maybe others, ask around or check other threads requesting parts. or try to the wrecking yards.
good luck

Yea thats why I went with a used one, But I got luckey. Its probably north of 450 bucks after paint and parts. Just be patient some one will roll their sport editon and BAM you got your self a scoop!

If you're looking for a hood scoop, do what I did...E-mail people on craigslist in your area selling their 4Runners with hood scoops . As long as they have the same color, it's usually a direct swap. Offer them some cash. They are selling it anyway, what do they care? I just got one last week after checking craigslist and sending e-mails for 3 months. Just depends upon how bad you want it....
