Scion T1808 head unit install
didn't see where anyone had mentioned this here, so FWIW retrofitted a scion T1808 head unit with ipod cable into the taco. relatively easy. not done with the final dash fit yet, but it's in and working. lots power, and ipod connectivity for 60 on ebay. figured i didn't need the stock tape player, and for less than the grom got a newer radio. now i'll drop kick the cheap ipod tape input.
followed stoneridge's directions: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=298093 - good step by step.
list of scion head units: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/audio-...ead-units.html.

if there's a thread already, let me know and i'll delete this.

I installed a 1808
in my 00 4runner. Once you have it in make sure you take advantage of the SSP settings for the vehicle type and equalizer settings. Heres a link.

yeah, i selected one of the extra 3 SSP settings, a "feel"--makes the stock speakers come alive (well, within reason). overall, an impressive little unit

But wait theres more
One other thing you might not know about your radio is that the SSP button actually has 6 different settings, not just 3.
You already found out how to push the SSP button for a quick second you get the first three settings... ("Hear", "Feel", etc)
But if you push the SSP button and hold it down for about three seconds it jumps to 3 more settings where you can adjust the sound according to your type of cabin interior. Those 3 settings are for the 3 different Scion models and are listed as such... TC, XB and XD .
I've found the best setting seems to be on "Feel" with the XD interior for my 2000 Limited. Give the new interior settings a try if you haven't checked it out, it opens up many more tonal possibilites.
