I have heard its 190HP stock as well..I also have heard people getting 260-290 Hp out of the s/c with the right fuel upgrades and the right tune.
I'm gonna be putting on my s/c soon with the 7th injector kit also 2.2 pulley and 160F thermostat, any other suggestions?

yeah .. i'm struggeling ..
so far my investment into my swap .. is $1000.00 for the low miler engine and Manual Trany $1000.00 for the supercharger .. both as would have it , only have 40k on them (used) ..
but the COST of the URD kit is (in my opinion) not reasonable for MY application !! I can replace my engine easly for that cost .
I will run mine .. and oh well .. if I "cook" a valve or engine .. I will replace it , but as I have read .. I will be ok for a while !!

My 1998 tacoma has 140,000 miles on it would any of you guys install a supercharger on it? I am just wondering if the motor would hold up and if its worth it with the miles. Where are you guys getting your superchargers? Is it true toyota stopped making them?

I found mine used. I relay wasn't looking and a friend who owns a shop called me and said someone walked in and asked if he know anyone who wanted one. Called me and I said hell yes I want it.
Now I just need to spend another 1K to fet the fuel right.

s/c
I am putting my S/c on in one week. From what I have read on all four of these main forums is that people are veeerrrryy happy with this s/c. The people that are not happy with the s/c do it the half azz way and don't reach the full potential of the s/c.

With that many miles I would do a compression check. If it is within factory specifications I see no problem. I would be more worried about the transmission if it is an auto.

Ok cool thanks for the info. I actually talked to gadget at URD a few times when I first looked into it. He says the 7th injector kits is fool proof and requires minimal tuning. I would definatley go that route. The only thing that gets me is this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-T...Q5fAccessories
I cant pay that much then another $1000 for the fuel upgrade. It gets expensive!!!!

s/c
Alright man...Do your homework on this. Look for a used s/c they will sale anywhere from 900-1300. The TDR s/c will last alonngggg time and even if you need a rebuild, you can get that done for around $700. It's hard to find a used s/c because they are so reliable and in high demand. The URD 7th injector kit is going to cost you about 1k, but suck it up and do it the right way the first time.

I'm not sure about a re-build. I would try and find a s/c with alittle less miles on it, unless your getting an awesome deal on it.. Maybe do some reasearch on the subject... I'd like to know when a good time to do a rebuild would be.

The TRD supercharger needs to be rebuilt about every 100,000 miles, or when the nose drive starts leaking/making noise. Some last longer, some last shorter.

People that dont like the stupidcharger are people like me that have gone turbo. To be able to get 270 hp on 7psi from a turbo shows just how inefficient stupidchargers really are. Im not hating on them completley and i think theyre okay if you get one cheap, but for most who have them, they end up spending about 4k to get them to run right and for the same amount of $$ you can build a turbo set-up that rocks. Hopefully this doesn't spur the turbo vs stupidcharger debate cause we all know that turbos are far superior, but yes much more complicated of a build. My.02.

I would love one with less miles. So far I have only come across two. One on ebay for $2800 brand new and one on craigslist for $1000 with the 80,000 miles.

buy a URD fuel upgrade kit!! it's good for your engine and you will see well over 200 RWHP, only takes a day to install, 2 if your slow like me. my first tune with my SC got me 227 RWHP... thanks to URD
My buddy bolted on a SC and nothing else and had check engine lights (running lean, go figure..) that went away after about 500 miles but wasn't exactly impressed with the gains, pretty weak actually. mine with the fuel/exhaust mods has been a dream to drive.
dennisc... I would add some exhaust headers and good exhaust/muffler setup, plus put in a sensor bung for a wideband sensor for tuning once your hardware is installed. be sure to post up your 7th Inj results!
