Maybe it's just me, but should this thread be in the Offroad Trip Planning and Trail Reports forum?

Thanks for the kind words Lance. I need to get some wheeling in because my baby is due in just 6 weeks, then my wheeling days may be few and far between.

We should try this trail this time, and if you guys dont like it we will never do it again.

Rob it is not much different from the climb up to where we almost lost you truck, just 3-4 times as long, but no cliffs to fall from.

Unfortunatley the 22nd doesn't work for me. (Bachelor's Party)
Keep posting where and when if the dates change, and take some pics.

Hey Marc, I just got back from Mammoth, last snowboarding of the season!! There were also alot of great trails around there to explore, most led to some sort of water source, lake, river, etc. Looks like not many people can go.
Any other dates that might work for everyone?

Also, since there are some 2WD trucks around, maybe we could get together for something else. Specifically, there is a decent sized car show every Wed on Main St. in El Cajon. I have noticed alot of "squatters" (informal groups gathering around the event) lately. If enough people were interested I think it would be great to show up with a bunch of 4Runners, and show off the rides. Last week there was a Tacoma, with SAW's and prerunner bumpers, that was forced to hang out with the Jeeps in the trucks area because we was the only lifted Toyota around.
Anyways, I think the car shows run all summer so it shouldn't be hard to plan something. Later

Maybe if 2wd trucks want to come we should do Lake Morena. I hear the outer road is not too bad, and there are offshoots that I would be interested in trying.

The car show may be fun, pick a Wed night, and I will try to make it.

What is a "check engine light mod"?

That's what I named my check engine light that won't go away.
(PO 171 - system adaptive fuel too lean)

It's a souvenir of our first trip out to Fish creek. I think all the dust and vibration did something that the truck didn't like. Still unable to pin down the cause.

Oh yeah, I forgot to ask, did anyone call Mikey(1st gen runner) he went with us on the last trip to inko pah. I think that was the one Marc missed. He would probably be down to go, or his buddy Steve also has a Toyota truck.
I think Scott has his email. *hint*(Scott email him)

i did the outer loop of the lake morena trail, plus i went on an offshoot that went up the middle of the hill. aside from a couple of parts, the trail was 2x4 friendly. the couple of parts that might have needed 4x4 may have been passable in 2wd, especially if its a taco w/ the elocker. i'd be down for that trail again.

Here is a link to a few pics from that trip. the pics are of the only two places where i used 4wd, and like i said, i may not have needed it (this was the first time i had ever driven off road, so my experience was a little nonexistent)

sooooo.......
if we were to plan a trip where 2x4's could go, who out there would be up for it, both 2&4wd? i have one friend with a 2wd lifted runner who would go

rob, i just emailed mike. hopefully he'll respond soon. tacoma dude, there MAY be a a place or two here where you would need to get a hand being helped up something w/ a towstrap, but you may be able to get it all without help.

there are a few people here that i work with who may be willing to go also. a couple of first get toyota pickups and a guy with a 1950's jeep. i can't go this weekend, but maybe next saturday i could go.

Saturdays I work until about Noon.
So for me Sundays are better so we can get an early start.

I work almost every Sat too. I am off on Fridays and Sundays. With my baby due in only 4 weeks, the 22nd will be my last trip for a little while.

I am not too concerned where we go, as long as I can give my detroit a workout, and play on some rocks.

i would be willing to give truck haven trail a shot out in anza borrego a shot. i have done part of this trail and it seems to be very challenging. or there is also los coyotes, which is closer and is also supposed to be very challenging. or if we are going to do a 2x4 friendly run, we can go to lake morena.

los coyotes: 4wd only (photos courtesy of socaloffraod.com)

lake morena: 4wd & 2wd friendly

so now we need to decide on a trail.

i'll be able to pull off sunday if need be, it'll be another all-nighter carried over from saturday, but oh well.

what do you guys think??????????????????
