Safety Recall Campaign: SSC 20A
Did any one receive notification for this safety recall too? How come I couldn't find any related info from this forum's search feature?
They changed the rear suspension/spring completely for my '98 4R the other day. I wonder the reason for this......
Thanks.

Recalls (in the US) are mandated and regulated by the Fed. Very strict rules and tracking and reporting policies, since a NHTSA Recall is for safety-related defects. If it ain't listed there, it's not a recall. But the recall mentioned above IS listed there, try NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 02V021000
Also don't confuse recalls with service campaigns - just because Toyota voluntarily replaces parts doesn't mean it's a recall. People tend to use the recall word too loosely.

ALTHOUGH THE 4WD 4RUNNERS DO NOT EXHIBIT THE HANDLING CONDITION, TOYOTA WILL RECALL THESE VEHICLES TO AVOID ANY PUBLIC CONFUSION AS TO WHICH VEHICLES SHOULD RECEIVE THE REPLACEMENT PARTS.
that should relieve some 4wd owners here...
